How far in advance should you book wedding entertainment?

Updated 2026-10-14

Popular acts fill peak Saturdays first. Here is a simple timeline, and what to do if your date is close.

Peak season

Last Minute Musicians advises booking 12 to 18 months ahead for a May–September Saturday, and says around 6 months is often enough for off-peak dates.

Short notice?

Use the event date filter. Acts whose agency calendar shows them as booked are hidden, and you can see acts with dates available on our Available tonight and short-notice page.

A simple timeline

12–18 months before: evening band or DJ. 9–12 months: ceremony and drinks music. 1–2 months: confirm timings, song requests and venue details with the agency.

FAQs

Can I book entertainment last minute?

Often, yes, especially away from peak Saturdays. Search with your date to hide acts that are already booked.
