How much does a wedding band cost in the UK? (2026)
Updated 2026-10-14
Two independent UK datasets published in April 2026 put a typical 3–4 piece wedding band at roughly £1,100–£1,350. Here is what those figures mean and how to use them when you compare quotes.
What the data says
The GigXchange Index (April 2026) gives a UK median of £1,340 for a 3–4 piece wedding band, with the middle half of bookings between £995 and £1,757. Its median for a 5+ piece is £2,000, and for a solo wedding act £367.
Last Minute Musicians’ marketplace data (April 2026) gives an average of £1,193 for a 4-piece function band, £1,500 for a 5–6 piece and £360 for a solo musician, across its directory listings.
The two sources measure different things: GigXchange weights confirmed bookings most heavily, while Last Minute Musicians uses listing prices. Treat both as a sanity check, not a quote.
City differences
GigXchange’s April 2026 city medians for wedding bands put Edinburgh (£1,779) and Glasgow (£1,678) at the top, followed by Cardiff (£1,480), Brighton (£1,424) and Leeds (£1,366). London was £1,355, but with the widest spread.
What changes the price
Line-up size is the biggest factor: each extra musician adds a fee and travel.
Date: Saturdays in May–September are in highest demand. Fridays, Sundays and winter dates are often cheaper.
Travel: many acts include travel within a radius and charge beyond it. Ask for an all-inclusive quote.
What’s included: PA, lighting, a DJ between sets, a first-dance learn and extra sets all affect the fee.
How to compare quotes fairly
Line quotes up on the same things: number of sets and their length, PA and lighting, DJ cover, travel, and the cancellation and substitution terms.
On Find the Act you can compare up to 3 acts side by side and send one enquiry to up to 5. Each agency replies with its own quote.
